In order to stimulate interest and promote networks among scholars in Southeast Asia, The Japanese Studies Association in Southeast Asia (JSA-ASEAN) organizes a biennial conference as the major platform for a trans-disciplinary international exchange.
The 6th JSA-ASEAN International Conference 2018 will be organized by The Indonesian Association for Japanese Studies (ASJI), Universitas Indonesia, Indonesia Japan Friendship Association (PPIJ), and Japan Graduate?s Association of Indonesia (PERSADA) under the plenary theme ?Global Dynamics Impacts to JAPAN-ASEAN Relations?.
Objectives
- To provide a platform for discussions on Japanese Studies, particularly on topics pertaining to Japan-ASEAN relations from a Southeast Asian and other perspective.
- To promote networking among scholars working on Japanese Studies in Southeast Asia.
- To strengthen collaboration among the Japanese Studies associations in ASEAN and beyond.
The conference?s organizers invite individual papers, posters and short films/videos relating to the conference theme in either English or Japanese. Significant and original (unpublished) submissions are solicited. Full paper should not exceed 8.000 words and should include an abstract of 250-500 words in English, or 300-500 characters in Japanese. All accepted and completed papers will be included in e-proceedings. Papers are welcome in the following streams:
- Peace and security
- Social classes and subcultures
- Gender
- International relations
- Political economy
- Migration
- Disaster
- Community activism and networking
- Language and literature

- Notification of acceptance 30 June 2018
- Deadline for early bird registration 31 August 2018
- Deadline for full paper submission 30 October 2018

- Title of paper
- Abstract (Japanese: 300-500 characters / English : 250-500 words)
- Audio-visual requirements (if any)
