BATIK: From Seed to Textile is the third phase in a 5-year research-based project aimed at rediscovering and documenting natural dye practices in Malaysian batik making. This phase explores the use of natural indigo in batik dyeing.
From Seed to Textile discovers the full cycle of batik dyeing with natural indigo. Starting from cultivation, harvesting, processing the indigo, preparing the fermentation vat and finally dyeing the fabric resulting in the finished batik pieces on display.
