Summary of the lecture
The talk focuses on the nature and characteristics of Japanese capitalism, particularly on the relationship between labour and capital in the country. In his influential book ?Capital in the Twenty-First Century?, Thomas Piketty has highlighted the rising importance of capital in an industrial state. This lecture will seek to answer whether this has been the case in Japan based on data from the national accounts statistics.
