3rd March is Hina Matsuri (Doll Festival or Girls’ Festival) in Japan, when people pray for the happiness and healthy growth of girls. Families with young daughters mark this day by setting up a display of dolls inside the house. This tradition roots back to Heian Era around 1,000 years ago, and is still being practiced today.
To celebrate this seasonal event, JFKL is organizing a Tea Ceremony on the Hina Matsuri day itself at its tearoom.
Please join us in this celebration and experience a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony led by Urasenke Tea Ceremony Club. Members of the club will demonstrate a tea ceremony, and then provide guests with a bowl of matcha (green tea) and a seasonal sweet. Be prepared to sit on the floor (tatami mat) for the duration of the program. Prior booking is required and limited seats are available.
