JAPANESE IN SARAWAK: MIGRATION, HISTORICAL SITES AND TOURISM
ABSTRACT
Mdm. SAKAI Kazue, who has been living in Sarawak for 46 years, will be sharing her knowledge and experience about the history of the Japanese community in Sarawak. She will also introduce some of the historical sites which have been built surrounding Kuching and nearby cities. In particular, she will show us the Japanese cemetery sites where she conducted the reforestation activities. As someone who works in the tourism industry, Mdm. Sakai will also enlighten us with the prospects of tourism that could be generated from the historical sites and the stories accompanying them.
