Toccata Studio x JFKL presents Makoto Nomura – Work-in-Progress in Malaysia
Makoto Nomura Work-in-Progress in Malaysia is an attempt of international collaboration of music through experiences of the composer/musician/improviser Makoto Nomura. The collaboration starts from his recent project Nomura x Hokusai, which created new composition inspired by the world-renown Ukiyo-e painter Katsushika Hokusai in 17th century. The work paved a way of collaboration between contemporary composer and traditional instrumentalist, in a way both music scenes have never witnessed before.
With partnership with Toccata Studio, the project will create a platform of international collaboration between traditional and contemporary, and musicians and non-musicians.
During their stay from 26th August to 1st September, the troup from Japan will visit universities and music related art spaces such as UiTM, SEGi Collage, ASWARA, FINDARS and so on, bringing back more collaboration to the ?Showing? at the end of the stay.
