In conjunction with KL Festival, The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL) is inviting minyo (Japanese folk song) singer and taiko drummer Shigeri Kitsu for a series of Traditional Music performances in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Sarawak, from 10 to 14 July 2011.
Inspired by her own experiences in Japan, Shigeri Kitsu will express the beauty of the four seasons ? Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter ? through her moving folk songs during her performances in Malaysia.
Shigeri Kitsu started performing minyo since her childhood, and has participated in collaboration performances with artistes from a variety of music genres including pop, jazz and world music. She has also put efforts to introduce and spread minyo & minyo drum to people, and has been actively involved in lectures in universities and workshops for pupils in schools. She has performed overseas, including tours to Los Angeles in 2002, Indonesia and Singapore in 2003, New York in 2004, Italy and Germany in 2008, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in 2009 and Shanghai in 2010.

* Alternatively, after phone booking is made, Entrance Passes can be collected at the venue (MaTic) on the day itself, from 7.00 ? 8.00pm. After 8.00pm, uncollected tickets will be released to the public.
* Limited to two (2) Entrance Passes per person.
