Private: 2015 Japanese Skit Contest for University and College Students

1. Eligibility Participating team members must be a. A current student at a university/college in Malaysia at the time of application; b. A non-native Japanese speaker whose neither parents is Japanese

2.Participation a. Each Contesting Group must perform their short drama with a maximum of five (5) team members. b. Each University/College may only recommend a maximum of three (3) groups. However: (i) Different campuses or faculties of a university/ college may each recommend up to three (3) Contesting Groups. (ii) In addition, Japanese language/cultural clubs officially recognised by a university/college may each recommend only one (1) group.

3. Video, Theme and Manuscript a. Video must be no more than 10 minute-long. b. Theme: ‘5 S’ All videos must clearly depict this theme. Content must include 5 Japanese words that start with the letter “S” and ways to use the Japanese language creatively so as to portray this message across. c. Any manuscript submitted must be the original work of the Contesting Group and has not been presented in any contest or event before. The manuscript MUST be written in the Japanese language. “Romaji” is also acceptable. d. The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur reserves the rights to all entries received.

4.Procedure a. The video must be uploaded to YouTube through the Contesting Group’s account as an “Unlisted” video. Videos that are set as “Public” under the Privacy Settings are not accepted. b. The manuscript along with a completed application form must be submitted to The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur. c. All videos, manuscripts and application forms have to be uploaded and submitted by 30th November 2015.

5. Results The judges’ decision is final. Announcement of results for the contest will be posted on The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur’s website by the end of January 2016.

6. Costs All costs incurred from the submission of the Entry Form and Manuscript shall be borne by the Contesting Group(s).
