(MATSUMOTO Jumpei / 2022 / 113min / P12)
Based on the true story of Fukushima Satoshi, the son who became the world’s first deaf-blind university professor, and his mother, this is an ode to hope for life.
Reiko lives with her teacher husband and three sons in a town in the Kansai region. Her youngest son Satoshi loses his sight at the age of 9, but grows up with a naïveté surrounded by the love of his family. However, at 18-years-old, while enjoying his time at a school for the blind in Tokyo, he also loses his hearing. Satoshi’s solitary existence is halted by a new means of communication called “finger Braille”.
